From 23d to 25th of March there was Startup Weekend, , organized by the Russian factory startups Glavstart № 1. The legal expert at that event was a lawyer of Juscutum legal advisers company – Andrew Parkhomenko – the specialist of IT-law.
“The implementation of almost all presented projects is related to the Internet, one way or another, projects affect on others copyrights, or generate their own. In the first case, it’s necessary to care that there is no claim from the holders, in the second – to protect their rights. It’s good news that already on the early stage a lot of the participants actualize for themselves the importance of the legal component for their project. Also next issues become relevant: fixing the results of intellectual activity, its transmission, the accumulation of rights in companies, including companies of foreign jurisdictions.”
“In light of recent events with the resources of EX.UA, Highway Patrol is confirmed the unfortunate tendency of Ukraine the distrust of businessmen to the Ukrainian domains and hosting, actually the distrust not to the companies that provide these services but to their legal status, which, as it turned out, allows a large number of unnecessary risks. A lot of startups are convinced of the need to place their projects on foreign servers and using of non-Ukrainian domains. Unfortunately at the moment, this approach is justified.”
